The King Speed Skating Club will host the Ontario Speed Skating Association Central Ontario Meet and Special Olympics competition this Saturday (Nov. 16) at the Trisan Centre in Schomberg.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be both the first sanctioned Ontario Speed Skating Association meet and first Special Olympics Ontario speed skating competition to take place in King Township.
The King Speed Skating Club is a registered, non-profit organization and is staffed wholly by volunteers. The club is a member of the Ontario Speed Skating Association and is also affiliated with Special Olympics Ontario. They service a large geographic area, including Caledon.
Saturday’s event will see approximately 120 athletes from clubs throughout Ontario.
The meet will also create a new, annual, opportunity for participation in speed skating by Special Olympics Ontario athletes.
If you have any questions, or would like additional information about the club, contact Rose Kimber (416-524-4440, info@kingspeedskating.com).
