I am a citizen of Caledon and I have read the articles printed about MPP Sylvia Jones’s spending on housing allowance.
I think people need to use their time more productively and contribute to their community rather than making hypocritical complaints about Jones’s spending on accommodations. While I am not a fan of the Conservative party, I find Jones to be a person of integrity and she works very hard to serve her community. Our MPP makes much more important decisions than whether or not it is a good idea to commute or stay the night.
If the majority of residents in Caledon did not trust Jones with that decision, she would not have been re-elected.
Frankly, I find the complaints hypocritical. If any one of us who works downtown was given an allowance to enable us to stay downtown rather than commute when needed, we would utilize that benefit.
I think Sylvia Jones works hard and if she decides she needs to use the housing allowance offered to her prior to her appointment, she is entitled to use it.
