Here’s what’s going on this winter at Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives

The new year is a great time to try new experiences, and the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is inviting Peel residents to come out and enjoy their winter programming.

PAMA, located at 9 Wellington Street East in Brampton, is a place to explore and learn about Peel’s diverse culture and heritage.

From 7 to 8:30 p.m. on January 16, the Brampton Folk Club is hosting a concert at PAMA. Titled “All Aboard! A Musical Travelogue”, the concert will feature music inspired by the history of rail travel and PAMA’s current exhibition, “All Aboard! The Railways of Peel”.

From 2 to 3:30 p.m. on February 1, art curator Sharona Adamowicz-Clements will lead an artist talk with Jim Reid, Gina Rorai, Peggy Taylor Reid and David Urban. The talk will discuss their work in PAMA’s “In Love and In Art” exhibition and explore the unique dynamics of being artistic couples. The talk will dive into how personal relationships shape creative output.

From 1 to 2:30 p.m. on February 22, another artist talk will be held. This time, PAMA and the Brampton Arts Organization will be chatting with local artist Meegan Lim about her outdoor banner art project, titled “Apple A Day”. Her art project is meant to draw attention to food insecurity in today’s economic reality of high inflation and a rising cost of living.

From 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, guests can enjoy creating art projects in PAMA’s studios. In January, guests are encouraged to enjoy the creativity of museum creation by making their own museum collage.

In addition to these events, there’s a wide variety of exhibits on at PAMA right now, such as: Youth on Reconciliation; Sedna: Inuit Goddess of the Sea; Stories of Home: Finding Community and Belonging in Peel; Beauty and Wonder: Deepa Wagh’s Sand Collection; and Behind the Bars: The History of the Peel County Jail.
