Headwaters Health Care Centre recognizes its local volunteers

Did you know Headwaters Health Care Centre volunteers donated over 50,000 hours of combined service last year? National Volunteer Week, April 15 to 21, is a great opportunity for Headwaters to show its appreciation for the services volunteers provide in support of our patients, families and visitors.

“On behalf of Headwaters staff, physicians, patients and families, I would like to express a heartfelt “thank you” to our amazing volunteers and to recognize their contributions to quality health care in our community,” says Stacey Daub, President and CEO of Headwaters. “Our volunteers give generously of their personal time to help others and this is an inspiration for us all.”

Volunteer opportunities include assisting in the Friendship Gardens, as chaplains, at the Community Breastfeeding Clinic and on the hospital and foundation’s board of directors. Auxiliary volunteers raise money to benefit patients and residents at the Gift Shop, Coffee Bar, at Seconds Count Thrift Shop and at the numerous community fundraising events held throughout the year.

“The Hospital Auxiliary is one of Headwaters Health Care Foundation’s largest donors,” says Joan Burdette, Executive Director. “Thanks to their hard work and dedication, last year they donated $251,593.00 to help the hospital purchase much needed equipment.”

Auxiliary President, Carolyne Beaton and her volunteer executive manage a roster of close to 220 active volunteers. Reverend Barbara Moulton, Spiritual Care Coordinator will have 30 active chaplains in the spiritual care program by summer.

Speaking from your heart is the best way to let volunteers know that you appreciate what they do. This April, take a moment to thank a Headwaters volunteer you know!
