Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites landowners to its upcoming gardening workshops.
They will be able to learn how to add colour, beauty and diversity to their yard with locally native plants, rainscaping and other techniques. Participants can discover what’s right for the yard, explore how to attract birds or butterflies, find the perfect shade tree or soak up rainwater.
Pre-registration is required.
Sessions on naturescaping will be May 31 at Meadowvale Village Hall, 6970 2nd Line W, Mississauga, and June 7 at Carmen Corbasson (Cawthra) Community Centre, 1399 Cawthra Rd., Mississauga. Participants will learn how to garden with locally native trees, wildflowers and flowering shrubs that are right for their yard. Attendees can sign up to receive a free tree or shrub.
Both sessions will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
There will be a workshop on rainscaping June 4 at Chappell House, The Riverwood Conservancy, 4300 Riverwood Park Lane, Mississauga from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Add beauty and interest to the yard while directing and soaking up rainwater with rain gardens, soakaways, rain barrels and more. Participants can win a rainbarrel.
“The workshops are a great way for homeowners to learn about ecological landscaping,” said CVC’s Deputy CAO and Director of Watershed Transformation Mike Puddister. “We provide homeowners with the information they need to create beautiful and sustainable landscapes.”
The workshops are presented by CVC’s ecological landscaping specialists and are free thanks to funding from CVC’s regional and municipal partners.
