The senior girls’ curling team from St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Bolton is going to the Provincial championship.
Whether the team would be able to compete was in some doubt last week after an incident following a hockey game involving the team from the school. The Region of Peel Secondary Schools Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) halted all competitive sports events involving the school, pending a hearing that took place Monday. Bruce Campbell, general manager of communications and community relations with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, reported Tuesday that ROPSSAA had lifted the restrictions, and the team was given leave to travel to the championships in Ottawa.
He added ROPSSAA will be issueing a report on the incident at the hockey game, possibly this week.
“The curling team is good to go, and good luck to them,” Campbell declared.
