Clock is ticking on library contest

August 22, 2013   ·   0 Comments

There is still time to submit entries for Caledon Public Library’s annual Click Create Celebrate, contests for all ages.
The contest closes Sept. 7.
Following on the success of last year’s program, the Library is offering residents of Caledon the opportunity to share their thoughts through short stories and poetry, and express their artistic talents through photography.
“Connecting people and encouraging creativity is at the centre of what Caledon Public Library does,” said Library CEO Bill Manson.
Top three winners in each category will receive a monetary award provided by the Friends of Caledon Public Library, the fundraising arm of the Library. A professionally printed publication, compiling the award winners, will be printed again this year as a keepsake to mark the event. As well, contest results will be posted on the Library’s website.
Contests include adult short story, Elizabeth Scavetta Memorial Teen Short Story (entrants aged 12 to 18), children short story (six to 12), adult poetry, young adult poetry (12 to 18) and photography (all ages).
Details and submission requirements can be found on the Library website at caledon.library.on.ca or at any branch.
Winners will be announced at an awards night Oct. 18 at the Albion-Bolton branch. All participants are encouraged to attend. The pre-festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with “meet and greets” from visiting authors, round robin writing and light refreshments provided by various members of the Writers’ Ink chapters, with the official presentation starting at 7 p.m.
