The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit with the assistance of Nottawasaga OPP detachment and the Emergency Response Unit have arrested and charged an Alliston resident following a child sexual exploitation investigation.
“A search warrant was executed at the accused’s residence and several electronic devices were seized on the May 7, 2024,” say Police.
As a result of an online child exploitation investigation, Francis Lacelle-Doyon, 42, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Two counts of possession of child pornography contrary to section 163.1(4).
The accused was scheduled to appear on the May 21, 2024 for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
The charges have not been proven.
“The OPP will continue to aggressively identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children. IMPAIRED DRIVING
Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following several calls due to poor driving observations.
“On May 14, 2024, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Caledon OPP received multiple calls regarding a motorist’s poor driving behavior in the area of Mount Pleasant Road and Highway 9, in the Town of Caledon,” say Police. “Officers located the subject vehicle and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.”
As a result, Daniel Jenkin, 35, of Georgetown, was charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
Operation while impaired – alcohol.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 30, 2024, to answer for the charges.
The charges have not been proven.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.
“On May 19, 2024, just after 11:15 p.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP responded to a call for service in the area of County Road 23 and Caledon-East Garafraxa Townline in the Township of East Garafraxa,” say Police. “Officers arrived on scene and located the male in question on a neighbouring property a few moments later. Officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation.”
Andre Bbranco, 44, of Orangeville has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
Failure or refusal to comply with demand;
Careless driving;
Fail to remain;
Fail to report accident.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges.
The charges have not been proven.
Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.
“Some drivers continue to take unnecessary chances. Motorists are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it. VICTORIA DAY ROAD REPORT
It was a tragic Victoria Day long weekend in Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) jurisdictions, say Police, with four people killed in separate road collisions and three boaters losing their lives.
The OPP laid close to 14,700 traffic-related charges during Canada Road Safety Week. Officers issued 7,860 speeding charges across the province over and above the 204 stunt driving/racing charges they laid against other aggressive drivers.
Road users who chose to not contribute to safe roads over the week-long national campaign were also charged with:
Impaired driving: 254;
Distracted driving: 158;
Careless driving: 155;
No seatbelt: 901 (charges apply to drivers and passengers)
Other unlawful and unsafe moving violations, and driver actions and behaviour made up for the balance of the charges.
“The OPP thanks all drivers and other road users who did their part to help keep the motoring public safe during the campaign and encourages everyone to do so throughout the year.”
DRUG RELATED CHARGES
Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a male and female in connection to drug related offences.
“On May 17, 2024, members of the Dufferin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) were in the Town of Orangeville when police were led into a drug trafficking investigation.”
Jeremy Scott, a 42-year-old from Orangeville has been charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Opioid;
Possession of a Schedule I substance- Methamphetamine;
Failure to comply with Undertaking (2 counts)
The charges have not been proven.
Kendra Neil, a 30-year-old from Orangeville, has been charged with:
Failure to comply with Undertaking;
Failure to comply with Probation Order.
The charges have not been proven.
The accused individuals were held for a Bail Hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.
