Caledon Library taking part in Memory Project

August 17, 2013   ·   0 Comments

Caledon Public Library is inviting local Second World War and Korean War veterans to the Albion-Bolton branch Oct. 9 to participate in a nation-wide oral history project.
The Memory Project Archive is travelling across Canada to preserve a legacy of Canadian service and sacrifice.
An initiative of The Historica-Dominion Institute, the Memory Project is creating an unprecedented record of Canada’s participation in these two conflicts, as seen through the eyes of thousands of men and women who were there. It is providing every living veteran the opportunity to preserve their memories through recorded interviews and digitized memorabilia. Their stories are available, in both official languages, at www.thememoryproject.com
The Memory Project Archive is made possible by a contribution from the Government of Canada through the Celebrations and Commemorations Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
People who are veterans or know of someone who would be interested are asked to contact the library to register, as space will be limited. Scheduled interviews and the digitalization of memorabilia will take place throughout the day and members of the public are welcome to attend as the Library encourages local veterans to tell their stories and create a legacy to share with the community.
