At just past the midway point in the season, Caledon FC is leading the standings in the Provincial Elite division of the Ontario Soccer League.
In their last match at Caledon East Community Park, they notched their 12th win of the season, scoring a 3-0 victory over AC Soccer Diavoli, with goals from Yannick Lewis, Michael Rinzema and Francesco Ricco.
The squad started the season by winning four straight before suffering their first loss to Sigma FC June 5.
They followed up with four more wins by June 21, to achieve first place in the league standings. With this last win, the club’s record stands at 10-2 for the season with 27 points, four ahead of the second-place Toronto FC.
The club has scored 33 goals so far, while allowing 13.
Top scorer for Caledon is Sahjah Reid with six for the season, followed by Rodrigo Quiroga who has five so far.
With 10 teams in the division, Sigma FC is in third place behind Caledon and Toronto. GS United is in the number four spot, followed by the Woodbridge Strikers in fifth.
The Caledon team will have three road games before returning to their home pitch in Caledon.
They will host NY Hearts Sept. 6 at the Caledon soccer pitch. The game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
