Bolton’s MasterChef says the experience was worth it

Sweet and sour meatballs on rice sounds pretty appealing, but it wasn’t enough to tempt the palates of the judges on MasterChef Canada.
That was the entry put forth by Bolton resident Holli Miller, but it was not good enough to advance her to the top-16 of the competition.
She said the comments from the judges were positive.
“They did enjoy it,” she said. “They suggested it was not MasterChef quality.”
She also said one of the judges, Alvin Leung, thought that one of the meatballs wasn’t cooked all the way through.
“I was a little disappointed,” Miller said, but added she was happy that she had the experience. “It didn’t knock me down. I still love to cook. It was just a bump in the road.”
Miller, 24, was among 49 finalists to make it to this year’s televised competition. They were all competing to make it into the Top 16 for the chance to win a $100,000 cash prize and the title of the next Canadian MasterChef.
She said MasterChef was one of her favourite shows, and her passion for cooking got her to audition for the competition.
Despite the setback, Miller said she’s not discouraged.
“I would definitely try it again,” she said, observing she now has a better idea of what the judges are looking for. “I would probably do something else.”05-cooking-5.5
