Mayfield Secondary School
Nicole Morrison
This 17-year-old contributed her services as a guard on the senior girls’ basketball team, which made it to the semifinals. She’s also a member of the rowing team at school. Away from school, she rows at the Island Lake Rowing Club near Orangeville. As well, she plays basketball in the Orangeville Hawks organization. The Grade 12 student lives in Tullamore with her parents Saundra and Bill Morrison.
Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School
Gabriel Ferreira
This Grade 10 student was a setter on the junior boys’ volleyball team. He said they just missed the playoffs in the first year of a three-year building program. He’s also planning to contribute as a shooting guard on the basketball team, which has just started practising. In the community, he’s a rep centre back in the Caledon Soccer Club. The 15-year-old lives in Orangeville with his parents Tony and Shelley Ferreira.
St. Michael Catholic Secondary School
Leif Hertz
This 16-year-old is playing goal for the school’s senior boys’ hockey team, which played to a 1-1 tie in its first outing. Away from school, he plays minor midget AAA hockey in the Don Mills Flyers organization. The Grade 11 student is from Kingston and is currently staying with the Fusco family in Palgrave.
Humberview Secondary School
Daniel Turchiaro
This Grade 10 student played power on the junior boys’ volleyball team, which made it to ROPSSAA. He’s also played striker on the junior boys’ soccer team. Outside of school, he plays in the ACTS Elites Volleyball Club in Orangeville and the Bolton Wanderers’ Soccer Club. The 15-year-old lives in Bolton with his parents Ylenia and Gino Turchiaro.
