Airport Day event returns to Brampton-Caledon Airport after two-year pandemic hiatus

Brampton Flight Centre and Great War Flying Museum excited to welcome community back

Caledon residents are invited to take to the skies this Sunday — or enjoy watching others soar.

The Brampton Flight Centre (BFC) and Great War Flying Museum (GWFM) are excited to be hosting their annual Airport Day event at the Brampton-Caledon Airport from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 11.

The event was unable to be held during the pandemic, and BFC communication lead Sam Meandro explained everyone at the airport is looking forward to welcoming those from Brampton, Caledon and beyond back to the airport.

Airport Day is a free event with free parking, and admission to the GWFM (located at the Brampton-Caledon Airport) on Airport Day is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under.

Families with up to four paying adults can enter the museum for $20. All admission fees go to the GWFM, which is a non-profit museum that is working to ensure the sights and sounds of World War 1 aviation are never lost.

GWFM members will be doing fly-bys in their replica World War 1 aircraft by for attendees to see every half hour. Airport Day will also officially mark the BFC’s recent induction into Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame. Earlier this year, the Centre received the Belt of Orion Award of Excellence for its contributions to advancing Canadian aviation.

Caledon’s Mayor, Allan Thompson, will be attending Airport Day to officially recognize the induction on behalf of the Town of Caledon.

According to Meandro, Airport Day will feature airport tour wagon rides, antique cars, musical entertainment, birds of prey, trackless train rides, face painting, a bouncy castle, a barbeque and much more.
