Women’s equality has made positive gains, but the world is still unequal.
International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action.
IWD will be celebrated March 8.
The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.
The Zonta Club of Brampton/Caledon will be sponsoring a breakfast. All are invited to celebrate IWD to take place at Turnberry Golf Club March 7. Arrive at 7:30 a.m. for a hot breakfast and scintillating conversation. The speaker will be Brampton West MP Kyle Seeback.
Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at Flora Florists (905-846-6111) at Conestoga Mall, Bovaird Drive East, or from any Zonta member. There will be door prizes to be won and yellow roses that can be purchased to celebrate the women in your life. Back to work at 9 a.m.
