Withdrawal of services in Caledon unfortunate

November 24, 2014   ·   0 Comments

Caledon Community Services (CCS) is a multi-service, community-impact organization that provides myriad supports for our community.
There is a great deal going on within our organization every single day. Employment and employer services, small business development, health services, specialized transportation and all kinds of community resources are in place to support Caledon residents.
We pride ourselves on the broad array of services operating under one roof and we appreciate the partnerships we’ve established with Caledon agencies and all levels of government to create necessary services in Caledon. Collaboration is the lifeblood of any good community organization. We recognized that years ago and do all we can to support sister agencies and work closely with others who want to build Caledon’s community services.
One of our long-time partners is Service Canada. This federal government program has been operating a one-day-per-week satellite office within CCS Royal Courtyards location in Bolton for many years. It provides Caledon residents with one-stop, personalized access to government of Canada services such as Employment Insurance, Canada Pension and Social Insurance. These are important resources that have been available locally. It is obviously far better to have them in Caledon than making a long trip to other Service Canada sites in Brampton or Orangeville to access them.
We have just been advised that Service Canada has terminated its program in Caledon.
CCS obviously values this local federal program. We supported it with a fully-serviced office location at no cost.
We urge Caledon residents to reach out to our MP, David Tilson, and ask him to encourage the return of Service Canada to Caledon. CCS is committed to providing the hospitality, it needs and all reception services to Service Canada so that the needs of Caledon residents can be addressed in Caledon. Alongside your advocacy, be assured that CCS will continue to advocate for the employment and other service needs of our community.
