Gather together food, clothes, bedding and painting supplies, and follow Cory Trépanier as he explores and records the vast Canadian arctic.
Facing the challenges of the far north; polar bears and wolves, extreme weather conditions and isolation, Trépanier leaves the comfort of his Caledon home to traverse the northern wilderness on foot. His epic adventures over the last several years have taken him to the most remote places, unexplored by others. He searches for the perfect vista and sets up his easel to paint the breath-taking beauty before him.
Trépanier’s recent film, Into the Arctic II, depicts his latest three-month adventure, exploring and painting in more than a dozen different locations in the North.
This film, nominated for a 2013 Canadian Screen Award in the best arts documentary category, will be shown during the Arts Society King (ASK) Festival at the Aurora Cineplex Theatre June 26. Doors open at 7 p.m. Trépanier will be on hand to answer questions and to present some of his paintings.
ASK invites the public to meet Trépanier and to experience his Arctic journeys through his dramatic cinematography and stunning canvases.
