Are you looking for ways to update your skills while helping your community?
Jobs Caledon at Caledon Community Services (CCS) at the Royal Courtyards in Bolton will be hosting a guest speaker seminar on Volunteering and Your Job Search.
It will be today (Thursday) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Shelly Sargent, from the Caledon Parent-Child Centre (CPCC), will discuss how volunteering benefits a job search, including topics such as building a positive morale, developing job skills and creating community connections.
Sargent has been managing volunteers for more than 20 years in the non-profit and media sectors, and most currently as manager of community relations and volunteers at CPCC, a non-profit community service organization that provides quality programs for children, parents and caregivers in Caledon and the surrounding areas. Services include child development opportunities, early identification of developmental concerns, referrals to specialized services and supports, and parenting education.
“Job hunting is a ‘job’ on its own and it is easy to get disheartened and frustrated,” Sargent said. “Attending a workshop like Volunteering and Your Job Search will offer insights on ways to make new connections and learn new skills while doing some real good for your community.”
