Details are still sketchy, but Caledon OPP is reporting two people were killed and another injured after a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 10 early Thursday afternoon.
The mishap happened at about 1:15 p.m. a couple of hundred metres north of Beech Grove Sideroad.
Constable Brenda Evans reported it involved a white GMC pick-up truck heading south and a northbound grey Mazda van. “For some unknown reason,” one of the vehicles crossed the centre line and collided with the other, she said, adding the van was engulfed in flames and ended up on its side.
The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger in the pick-up was taken to hospital. The driver of the pick-up was identified as Karen Hammond, 56, from Orangeville. The injured passenger was Jason Hammond, 39, of Wasaga Beach.
The driver of the grey Mazda has been identified as William Taylor, 51, of Orangeville.
Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact them at 905-584-2241.
