Caledon Townhall Players are ready to present their third and final offering of the season.
What Is Susan’s Secret, by Michael and Susan Parker, is a rollicking farce about an endearing older couple, Susan and Michael Edwards (played by producer Jeannette Massicotte and Mark Ladouceur), who operate the old and rustic Cider Mill Inn. They at first appear to be a little senile, but it turns out they are very clever con artists. They prey on their unsuspecting guests by offering huge discounts to various tradesmen. Using an elaborate check-in form, guests actually end up signing a work order requiring them to perform various jobs and improvements around the inn, in this directoral debut for John M. Rowe. The dismayed victims realize they have been tricked, but find they have no way out.
A succession of tradesmen and their wives are enticed to the inn, along with other guests who drop by for illicit purposes. the result is mixed-up dialogue that’s not to be missed.
What Is Susan’s Secret opens tonight (Thursday) and will be performed April 26, 27, May 3, 4, 10 and 11. There wil be a matinee and dinner May 4.
