Town set for Mayor’s Fall Seniors Forum

September 10, 2015   ·   0 Comments

Mayor Allan Thompson, along with members of Caledon council, invite the senior community to attend the Mayors’ first Fall Seniors Forum.
It will be Sept. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Caledon Community Complex.
“Our inaugural theme is ‘Government and You: Building a Healthy Caledon Together’,” Thompson said. “I’m excited to come together with our senior community to share information and exchange ideas on how we can create an inclusive, accessible and energized adult 55-plus community in Caledon. We’ve had a great response already and I hope to see more registrants in the days to come.”
The forum will be hosted by the Town, with presentations from Thompson, the Parks and Recreation and Library teams. Peel Region will also present information on their services that will be of interest to the 55-plus population. Importantly, Thompson will touch on the Adult 55-Plus Strategic Plan, that is nearing completion for the Town, outlining positive steps being proposed to create an inclusive community for seniors. This is an opportunity to learn about the plan and share input on the goals, recommendations and deliverables before a final recommendation goes to council.
The second half of the forum will be a chance to network with peers, mix and mingle and visit with presenters.
Those interested in participating are asked to register. That can be done online at www.caledon.ca/seniorsforum, by email at mayor@caledon.ca, in person by visiting a branch of the Caledon Public Library or Town Hall (6311 Old Church Rd. in Caledon East) or by phone at 905-584-2272, ext. 4156
