Town parting with part of road allowance

Caledon council recently voted to convey a Belfountain area road allowance to neighbouring property owners.
The road allowance, also known as Byam Street, is between Lots 10 and 11, Concession 5 in west Caledon.
Councillor Richard Paterak said it’s unopened, and many people might not be aware of it.
“With no markings, no one would know where it is,” he commented.
He added the Town is conveying the allowance to neighbouring property owners, while retaining a “hammerhead” to accommodate future truck movements.
Paterak added this is one of many such surplus road allowances in Caledon, and the Town has a program in place to deal with them.
“For the most part, they don’t represent any development potential,” he said. “They’re just lot additions.”
