Tour de Headwaters is almost here

Headwaters Health Care Foundation wants people to Pedal for a Purpose at the inaugural Tour de Headwaters, a fundraising cycling event benefitting Headwaters Health Care Centre. It will be Sept. 19.
This all calibre, multi-route ride will welcome participants from Caledon and Dufferin, as well as cycle enthusiasts from the GTA and beyond.
“It’s the most fun you can have on two-wheels!” explained Event Chair and Foundation Board Director Tim Peters. “We’ve gotten support from golfers, runners and gala-goers in the past, but we’ve never had an event geared to cyclists, so we’ve created Tour de Headwaters to further our reach.”
The event will cruise through the beautiful Hills of Headwaters and offers a 25K family-friendly trail route, as well as 50K and 101.5 K road routes. Participants will both start and finish at the Lloyd Wilson Centennial Arena in Inglewood and depending on the length of their chosen route, riders roll through Erin, Alton, Belfountain and even as far up as the Headwaters Health Care Centre itself (the halfway point of the 101.5K route)
The main goal of this event is to raise funds to purchase medical equipment for the hospital.
“Even though we just completed our $16 million Commitment to Care Campaign, the capital equipment needs are always growing” commented Foundation Board Chair Christopher Stewart. “Although we work to get the message out, the general public doesn’t realize that the government does not pay for equipment. Those annual purchases are made through the donations of generous people in our community which in part come from events just like this one.”
Registered participants will pay a fee to participate, but are also encouraged to collect pledges from friends and family. In return, riders will be treated to pre-event “fuel-up” snacks, refreshing rest stop treats along each of the routes, prizes as well as a post-ride barbecue at Caledon Hills Cycle in Inglewood.
The cost to participate is $50 for adults and $25 for those younger than 17. The first 150 people to register will receive a Camelback water bottle.
