Mayfield Secondary School
Ryan Singer
This Grade 9 student has been busy on the slopes as part of the nordic skiing team. He finished second in his first race of the season, and that had him elevated to the junior boys’ division, where he finished 10th in his first outing. He also played safety on the junior football team. Away from school, he plays defence in Caledon Minor Hockey, as well as house league lacrosse in the Caledon Bandits’ organization. The 14-year-old lives in Caledon village with his parents Melanie and Kevin Singer.
Robert. F. Hall Catholic Secondary School
Matthew Amato
This 15-year-old is a defenceman for the school’s hockey team that got off to such a flying start this season. In the community, he plays minor midget rep hockey in Mississauga and likes to ride a dirt bike. The Grade 10 student lives in the Valleywood area with his parents Tony and Josie Amato.
St. Michael Catholic Secondary School
Marc Simonetta
This Grade 11 student plays centre for the school’s senior boys’ hockey team, which piled up six wins in their first seven starts. He said he’s thinking of trying out for the school’s soccer team in the spring. In the community, he plays for the Toronto Redwings out of North York, and likes to play soccer too. The 16-year-old lives in Bolton with his parents Maria and Giorgio Simonetta.
Humberview Secondary School
Eugene Vaskov
This 15-year-old plays mixed doubles on the school’s ping-pong team. He’s also involved in weight-training in the school’s workout club, and played scrum half on the school’s rugby team last year. He hopes to play rugby out of school this year. The Grade 10 student lives in Bolton with his parents Roan Vaskov and Helen Vaskova.
