Mayor committed to strengthening local economy
By Zachary Roman
May 10 was a great day for Caledon’s business community to get together.
At 11:30 a.m. that day, people began to gather at Caesar’s Centre in Bolton for Caledon Mayor Annette Groves’ first annual Spring Business Lunch.
In attendance were Caledon Council members, Town of Caledon staff, Region of Peel Councillors and staff, local non-profits like Caledon Community Services and Cassie’s Place, and of course, a wide variety of Caledon business owners and businesspeople.
Before the event started, the Citizen spoke with Groves and she said she was extremely happy with the turnout. She said next year the business lunch might expand, and she’s considering hosting a business lunch in the Fall as well.
Attendees mingled and enjoyed coffee and appetizers before sitting down for a meal and listening to speakers, including Groves herself. Caledon’s Chief Administrative Officer Carey Herd introduced Groves, noting she was the first female of colour to ever be elected Mayor of Caledon.
