Seizure leads to trafficking charge

A Barrie man has been charged with trafficking following a drug seizure by Caledon OPP officers.
Police report that on Aug. 8 at approximately 8:43 p.m., officers from the Street Crime Unit (SCU) observed suspicious activity in an alley on Ellwood Drive West. The officers observed a male running on Ellwood Drive to a black Honda. The male was then seen entering the driver’s side of the vehicle which was occupied by another male.
The officers requested the assistance from a uniform patrol officer to conduct a vehicle stop.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers immediately observed that he was concealing illegal substances in the front of his shorts. The driver was detained for a drug investigation and a search uncovered a sock which contained drugs, believed to be crack cocaine and cocaine with a street value of $5,570. Officers further located the driver in possession of a large quantity of cash and 2 cellular telephones.
