A 51-year-old man from Ramara Township is facing a number of charges after police pulled over a suspected impaired driver in Bolton early Friday morning.
Caledon OPP reports officers spotted a vehicle being driven erratically on Regional Road 50 shortly after midnight.
They pulled him over and immediately detected a strong smell of alcohol on his breath when they spoke to the driver. There were other indications of impairment too.
Once the driver was told he was under arrest, he got non-compliant and refused to get out of the vehicle. He the apparently hit one of the officers over the head. Other police showed up and after more attempts to resist arrest, they were able to get the man to the station. Once there, he refused to supply a breath sample.
The man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, two counts of assaulting police, driving while disqualified and failing to comply with a recognizance order.
