On behalf of all the staff at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers and Dave Eccleston of BluePrint Hockey School, I just wanted to pass along our sincere thanks to all who came out early on a Sunday morning and helped make our Gold Medal celebration in our auction facility in Bolton an unbelievable success.
Starting with Brad Stafford and Tim Hortons providing free Tim’s coffee and donuts, to Kent Oakley, owner of Music 21, providing our amazing video wall and tech support, to James Dick Construction Limited combining with Contractors Rental Supply to get us portable message board to direct fans to our site, this was very much a community effort. Getting a big boost from Mayor Marolyn Morrison guiding us along the way really helped make it a very successful day to help out two great organizations, Caledon Community Services and The Canadian Ball Hockey Association.
Every dollar raised at the event was evenly split between the two. Our sincere appreciation goes out to all the local businesses who helped us by putting up flyers, donating gift certificates and raffle prizes, providing snacks and sending out mass emails to their contacts, all in an effort to help us raise money and put some more excitement into our event; namely Bolton Thai Cuisine, Canadian Tire, Four Corners Bakery Eatery, Pizzaville, Rexall Drug Store, St. Louis Bar and Grill, Stewart Maguire’s Landing, The Toronto Maple Leafs, Zehrs.
A special thanks to the staff and volunteers of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, BluePrint Hockey School and Caledon Community Services for donating their time and effort selling tickets, picking up prizes and collecting canned goods etc. A big thanks as well to both the Caledon Enterprise and Caledon Citizen for helping promote our event by advertising our flyer in their papers. My apologies to anyone that I have missed. We are grateful for your efforts.
And lastly, to the fans who came out and cheered our Canadian Olympic Hockey team to victory, opened their wallets and donated to Caledon Community Services and The Canadian Ball Hockey Association. What a day it was! Thank you so much. Perhaps we will see you all again with a few more of your friends and neighbours in four years when we can do this all over again!
Over the course of 10 days to see what became from one quick email from Dave to myself and then to watch how quickly everyone pulled together as a team to put this event on, is truly indicative of what a great community we have here in Caledon and the town of Bolton. To top it off, watching Canada bring home the Gold Medal in a way that what was also very much a team effort, seems very fitting indeed.
