With the number of confirmed cases rapidly rising in Peel Region, the Provincial Government has had to take strict steps to stopping the spread.

Peel, alongside Toronto, entered the Grey level – Lockdown, effective November 23.

“We cannot afford a province-wide lockdown, so we are taking preventative action today by moving Toronto and Peel into Lockdown-level restrictions and other regions into higher levels of restrictions,” said Premier Ford. “We need to take decisive action to stop the spread of this deadly virus.”

With these new restrictions in place, schools will remain open as well as after school programs and childcare.

Post-secondary schools will be open for online learning with specific exceptions to training, depending on the trade.

All indoor events and gatherings, aside from those with the same households, are prohibited, with the exception of individuals who live alone and may have limited contact with one other person.

Organized events, such as weddings, funerals and religious services can be allowed only if physical distancing is possible, with a limit of 10 people indoors and outdoors.

Retail businesses are to transition to curb side pick-up and delivery, aside from grocery stores, pharmacies, big box retailers, safety supply stores, and convenience stores must go down to 50 per cent capacity within their stores.
