William Osler Health System (Osler) is one step closer to breaking ground on the new Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
Plenary Health has been named the first choice of short-listed teams to design, build, finance and maintain the new facility.
Plenary Health is one of three short-listed teams bidding on the project and was chosen as the preferred proponent after an extensive evaluation process led by Infrastructure Ontario (IO).
The Plenary Health team includes Developer — Plenary Group (Canada) Ltd.; Constructor — PCL Constructors Canada Inc.; Architect — Diamond Schmitt Architects and RTKL, an Arcadis Company; Financial Advisor — RBC Capital Markets; and Facilities Management — Honeywell Limited.
“Today’s announcement is significant, not only for Osler, but for Brampton and the surrounding communities within this region,” said Neil Davis, vice-chair of the William Osler Health System Board of Directors and chair of the Peel Memorial Community Partners Task Force. “The new Peel Memorial will be a catalyst for changing our health system by focusing on health, wellness and prevention of illness and chronic disease.”
Peel Memorial will provide specialized, patient-centred care in a state-of-the-art facility to ensure the community has access to a wide variety of traditional and alternative health care services within one convenient location. Space will also be created for education classrooms where patients and family members can learn from health professionals about how to take a more active role in managing their own health.
“At Osler, we are committed to improving access to the health care services our community needs most, so people can connect with the right care, when and where they need it most,” said Osler President and CEO Matthew Anderson. “Today’s announcement marks another important milestone in our Peel Memorial redevelopment journey as we look forward to creating a hospital focused on not only providing care and treatment, but promoting health.”
Over the next two months, Osler will work with IO to finalize contract details with Plenary Health. These details will include the cost of the contract and project timelines.
