October happenings at Caledon Seniors’ Centre

Spring and summer have their beauty, but there is something about a misty October morn that stirs the soul.
As the mists wane and yellow leaves scud across our paths, we give “thanks” for the abundance of seasons past, but delight in the glow of this “golden month.”
October is a month of fall fairs, cider making and local craft and art events. We at Caledon Seniors’ Centre celebrate the season with our own Craft Sale, Bake Sale and Silent Auction. It all happens Oct. 26, and runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a very well attended event, so come early and maybe start the day with a bacon buttie for breakfast before hitting the sale. We always have a fabulous array of home baked goodies and handmade crafts, so get a head start on your Christmas shopping. Next, head to the silent auction, where you maybe will find a gem to bid on, and from there head to the Tea Room for a cuppa and rest up to consider those bids. Make sure your last bids are in before the auction closes. Hamburgers will be available if you feel peckish with all that shopping. Come and bring a friend or two as we love to show off our wonderful Seniors Centre.
October would not be the same without a trip to the Shaw Festival. The luxury coach leaves the Centre at 9:20 a.m. Oct. 15, and we will lunch at Queen’s Landing and then on to see Guys and Dolls at the theatre. The cost is $133. We have a waiting list at the present time.
We have a trip planned to Casino Rama Oct. 17. The luxury coach leaves the Centre at 9:20 a.m. and will return at 5:30 p.m. We will have a five-hour stay at the Casino and a buffet lunch. The cost is $8.
The big trip of the year to China for 11 days goes Oct. 31. The cost is $2,650.
We have two new programs at the Centre we would like to highlight. Tap Dancing for Beginners runs Tuesdays at 10:45 a.m., and the Lunch and Learn program takes place once a month, starting Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. So, grab a warm sweater and come join us for both physical and mental stimulation.
For information on all our programs and trips, please contact the centre at 905-951-6114 or check our website at www.caledonseniors.ca or send an email to [email protected]
We wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and look out for those Halloween trick or treaters.
As always, we welcome all seniors to our Centre for warmth and fellowship during the fall and winter months. The invitation to lunch Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is always extended at “your home away from home.”
