The following letter, addressed to Caledon Councillor Annette Groves, was submitted to the Citizen for publication.
I was one of the more than 1,000 constituents who are opposed the Canadian Tire facility in our midst.
Now we find out that there will be a hydrogen production component, along with traffic concerns, air pollution, low tax revenues. How much more can the residents of Bolton endure? Canadian Tire tax revenues are said to be only $100,000, hardly enough to fix the roads that will be damaged by truck traffic.
What is most disturbing is the lack of transparency in this whole negotiation, from start to the present. No respect for the taxpayers who are funding our municipal government. Especially those of us in Bolton, who must endure all the noise, traffic, pollution. Now we have a fire hazard with hydrogen production. Disgusting.
Please have a public meeting to address the public’s concern about hydrogen production in our midst. I mean we in Bolton have to live with this gigantic plant and all the problems. The least council can do is to keep us updated and informed, as well as hear our concerns, which are not being addressed, with the possible exception of Regional Councillor Annette Groves.
Sandy Forester,
Bolton
