Tomorrow (Friday) has been proclaimed National Day of Honour in Caledon.
Town council Tuesday observed a moment of silence at their meeting before voting to proclaim the day.
Gov. Gen. David Johnston has issued the proclamation for the day, seeing it as an opportunity to celebrate the strength and resolve Canadian service personnel, as well as bringing awareness to the federal government’s efforts to mark the end of Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan.
The motion passed by council also observed there is to be a national ceremony on Parliament Hill in Ottawa with veterans of all branches of the Canadian Armed Forces, along with their families.
