A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check Jan. 6 resulted in charges against a 53-year-old man from Mississauga.
Caledon OPP reports the spot check was set up on Kennedy Road. Officers were alerted when they saw a vehicle approaching, then made a quick U-turn.
Officers eventually stopped a male driver operating a grey Acura. Upon investigation, an officer determined the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and arrested the driver.
He was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight while being followed by a peace officer.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his car was impounded for seven.
