It’s last-man-standing for the Caledon Hawks, as all but one minor hockey team has been eliminated from OMHA minor bantam playoff contention.
After a stellar regular season, in which they were defeated only four times, the minor bantam AA Hawks will be facing off against the Barrie Colts in the OMHA championships.
A strong start to the postseason had the Hawks at the top of their Tri-County division in the preliminary round, setting up a quarter-final match-up with Belle River. The Hawks took them down handily by a score of 7-1, before eliminating the Guelph Gryphons 6-2 with only one loss between the two series.
Barrie has made its way to the finals via a similar path, also losing only once on their way to the championship.
The six-game series is set to kick off Friday at Caledon East arena, and will move to Barrie the following day. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
Elsewhere around the organization, a handful of teams are still looking to make their mark in Tri-County action after being eliminated from OMHA contention.
The midget AE Hawks, fresh off a semifinal five-game series win over the Gryphons, begin their Tri-County final against the Halton Hills Thunder this week.
Minor atom AE, peewee AE, minor bantam AE, and the midget AA squads are also in the midst of five-game series within the Tri-County division.
