Two Caledon men have been charged with possession of stolen cars.
Caledon OPP report that on Aug. 5, officers from the Street Crime Unit (SCU) received information that a stolen Lexus was left unattended in a Bolton park. Officers from the Street Crime Unit set up surveillance and noted that the vehicle had a stolen licence plate. Sometime later the officers observed two males and one female arrive in the park in a stolen black BMW.
They approached the vehicle and removed the stolen licence plate. One of the males left in the BMW and the other male and female left in the stolen Lexus.
Patrol officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on the BMW but the driver fled the area, evading police. Later, the BMW was located on Foundry Street in Bolton and the stolen Lexus at a Bolton residence. Both vehicles were towed pending further investigation.
SCU officers also located the driver of the BMW at his residence and he was arrested. He was held in custody overnight and appeared in court the following day. A warrant for the arrest of the other male was requested and granted.
On Aug. 10, patrol officers located the driver of the Lexus outside his residence and he was arrested. He was held in custody overnight and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville the following day.
The 22-year-old was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. A 24-year-old, also from Caledon, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Breach of Probation for failing to abide by his conditions.
