Caledon’s Mayor is hosting a spring business breakfast next month.
The event is being held on May 7 at Caesar’s Centre in Bolton (12495 Highway 50).
Doors open for the event at 7:30 a.m. and from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m., there will be a welcome from Caledon’s Manager of Business Attraction, Amanda St. John, and opening remarks from Mayor Annette Groves.
The event’s keynote speaker is Caledon resident Kulbir Colin Singh Dhillon, who is president of consulting firm ImagineQ Inc. and Chief Technical Officer at Canada’s Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association — among many other pursuits. His speech, from 8:30 to 9 a.m., will focus on the business breakfast’s theme: innovation.
Groves said business breakfasts are a great way to get people together and connect the business community.
“We want to reach out to them and let them know we are here to work with them,” said Groves. “It’s a good way for us to keep open communication with the community.”
Groves said Caledon has an amazing economic development team, and they’ll be at the breakfast. She said the team loves to help businesses in whatever way they can, whether that be applying for grants or helping them through the process of an expansion or renovation.
“It’s important for us to have a strong partnership with the business community,” said Groves.
The new Humber River Centre in Bolton, which has dedicated space for entrepreneurs to meet and a home for the Caledon Chamber of Commerce, is something Groves wants to highlight for the business community.
Groves also wants to use the business breakfast as a way to thank local businesses for all of the good they do in Caledon.
“They are the ones who… sponsor events, non-profits and sports teams,” said Groves. “They are here sponsoring all of these community groups.”
Business growth in Caledon is key for strengthening the local economy, said Groves, adding that the more Caledon can offer, the more its residents will spend their money here rather than going elsewhere.
Groves says she is looking forward to Dhillon’s speech.
“He’s a very dynamic speaker… he’s a local resident which is extremely important,” said Groves. “He’s been speaking globally, we’re proud to have him… he’s a very informative speaker, we will learn a lot from what he’s speaking about… it will be very beneficial to those attending the breakfast whether you’re a resident or a business.”
Tickets for the breakfast are $70 and are available on eventbrite.ca.
