Mayfield art on display

January 4, 2018   ·   0 Comments

There is a lot of creativity represented by students at Mayfield Secondary School, and that was on display recently. The art exhibit, featuring works by visual arts students at the school, opened at the Albion-Bolton branch of Caledon Public libraries, and will be on display until Jan. 10. There are more than 110 works on display. Teacher Julie Smitka said it’s the largest department show held outside the school. Grade 11 student Sarina O’Gorman was responsible for this creation called Escape. It’s done in batik, which involves a powdered pigment applied to fabric. It also involved the use of a calligraphy pen. She said it took about a month to produce, including the planning.

Meghan Taylor, a Grade 9 student, painted this work, called Wolf of the Stars, from acrylics. “I really enjoy painting dogs,” she said.
