Man charged in Mayfield Road incident

An off-duty police officer alerted Caledon OPP to a suspected impaired driver June 13.
Police report they got the call at about 2:25 a.m., with the off-duty officer reporting a westbound car on Mayfield Road swerved into the eastbound lane west of The Gore Road, causing the officer to take evasive action. The suspect stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road.
When Caledon officers arrived on the scene they detected a strong smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath.
A 54-year-old man from Richmond Hill was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
His licence was suspended on the spot and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
