A 23-year-old man from Durham faces a couple of charges after a Caledon OPP officer found him driving a car that had been stolen Dec. 31.
Police said the officer was on general patrol on Porterfield Road at about 4 p.m. when he saw a blue Pontiac Sunfire heading north. A licence plate check revealed the car had been reported stolen to Orangeville Police Service. The officer activated the cruiser’s emergency equipment and intercepted the vehicle as it entered a residential neighbourhood in Orangeville.
The lone occupant for was arrested for possession of stolen property and police eventually learned that he was prohibited from driving and was bound by a probation order with a condition to not occupy the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with driving while disqualified and breach of probation.
