Make Easter 2014 a family adventure with a trip to Downey’s Farm Market, south of King Street, for Easterfest.
Downey’s is thrilled to join the community in celebrating the 13th anniversary of its Easter festival, which has steadily grown in popularity over the years. This year’s Easterfest promises to be as exciting as ever, with five full days of activities and entertainment for family members of all ages, April 12 and 13, and Easter weekend (April 18 to 20) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Festivities will include face painting, crafts, wagon rides, visits with farm animals, puppet shows and performances by magician Steve Baker of Abracadabra Magic. And once again, children will be able to take part in the Easter Egg Scramble (scrambling to find colourful plastic eggs scattered by the Easter Bunny and helpers), and exchanging their egg collection for an Easter basket of treats.
Festival-goers will also be able to buy Easter treats and baked goods, including Downey’s famous pumpkin donuts, from the Downey Bakery. Downey’s Estate Winery is open April 12, 13 and 19.
Admission is $12 per person from ages two to 92.
The mix of activities for the whole family has proven to be a winning formula that keeps people coming back, year after year.
“Our family always looks forward to Easterfest at Downey’s Farm,” commented Jenn Barnhouse of Alton. “My daughter loves having her face painted, seeing the Easter bunny and collecting eggs in the Egg Scramble. It’s a great event for kids.”
Downey’s is at 13682 Heart Lake Rd., south of King Street. Downey’s Farm is a popular agritourism farm, growing strawberries, raspberries, sweet corn and pumpkins. The market will open daily beginning May 2.
