Caledon OPP recently hosted its annual Youth Leadership Camp, enabling local young people to spend a week with officers, getting an idea of what police life is like, while performing various projects in the community. Inspector Tim Melanson, detachment commander, welcomed the group the first day, with suggestions they might want to consider a career in law enforcement. “It’s been a great career, he told them.
Among the projects the Camp participants took part in was a car wash in the Bolton Home Depot parking lot. Elizabeth Wizniak of Orangeville and Jordan Tishler of Caledon were working on the shine on this car. Proceeds from the wash will go toward the Shop With a Cop Christmas fundraiser.
Participants made the rounds through some of the neighbourhoods on Bolton’s south hill, collecting food contributions that went to the Exchange.
The Campers were put to work cleaning up graffiti in certain places. These folks were working under Highway 410.
