Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson MPP has been elected interim leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party by his fellow Caucus members.
Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones will remain as PC Caucus chair under Wilson’s leadership.
“I think Jim will do a great job as interim leader of the Part,” Jones said. “He has extensive experience both in government and the opposition.”
Wilson was first elected to the Legislature in September 1990. Since then, he has fulfilled many roles, serving as an Opposition Critic; Deputy Speaker; Minister of Health, Minister of the Environment; Minister of Energy, Science and Technology and Minister of Northern Development and Mines.
“It is an honour that I have been asked to continue to lead Caucus meetings, and serve in a leadership role as our party begins the process of selecting a new leader,” Jones said.
“I am pleased that Sylvia has agreed to continue to take on this responsibility,” Wislon commented. “She is a good friend and is highly respected by every member of Caucus. As chair of Caucus, she has always demonstrated an ability to develop consensus, out of the diverse opinions present in Caucus. I have every confidence that she will continue to do an outstanding job as PC Caucus chair.”
