It wasn’t a great start to the year for a 63-year-old man from Springwater Township, as he found himself facing drinking and driving charges.
Caledon OPP reports an officer was on general patrol shortly after midnight Jan. 1 in the area of Airport Road and Cranston Drive in Caledon East and observed the driver of a grey Lexus sedan was travelling at high speed and swerving within the marked lane. The officer determined the vehicle was going 140 km/hr in a posted 80 zone
Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong odour of alcoholic on his breath and his eyes were glossy. As a result, the man was arrested and transported to the Detachment for testing. He was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with more then the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
