Die-hard hockey fans didn’t let Old Man Winter stop their fun Jan. 25 when they made their way to Teen Ranch Ice Corral to cheer on local “health care heroes” who battled it out on the ice all in the name of fundraising.
This second annual event, presented by Precise ParkLink and organized by a small committee of hospital staff members, was held in support of the Headwaters Health Care Foundation’s $16 million Commitment to Care Campaign. It was created by staff as an opportunity for hospital employees to have some off-site fun with one another and show their support for both their workplace and their community hospital.
“We had such great success at last year’s event that we just had to do it again,” declared event chair John Roberto. “Last year, we donated just over $3,000 to the Foundation. This year’s goal was $5,000, and with the help of a new sponsor and all of our players raising pledges of support, we surpassed that, raising an amazing $5328.54.”
Thanks go to Precise ParkLink, Orangeville Tim Hortons, all of the companies and individuals who donated raffle prizes and baked goods, and all of the players, volunteers and spectators who navigated through wintery weather to come out.
