Elizabeth Birnie, past-chair of the Bethell Hospice Foundation and daughter of founder Lorna Bethell, and Foundation Board Vice-Chair Tim Powell welcomed everyone to the Bolton edition of the Hike. Powell observed the facility has to raise about 40 per cent of its budget, working out to about $20,000 per week. That’s what makes Saturdays hike and the one last Sunday in Inglewood so important.
