Caledon Golden Hawks forward Daniel Cafagna added another four points to his total Sunday night after scoring four goals in the first period of the game against the Huntsville Otters.
After 34 games, Cafagna has notched 52 points, scoring 29 goals, second over all in the Georgian Mid Ontario Junior C Hockey League, and 23 assists.
He is currently in the fourth spot in the top league points earners standings.
Cafagna’s outstanding game Sunday began when he scored the opening goal just 13 seconds after the first puck drop.
He followed up by scoring three more before the buzzer sounded to end the period.
“Last Friday in Alliston, we scored in the first 20 seconds in the first period, so we thought we needed a good start again,” he said. “That seemed to push our game up in the Alliston game, which gave us a boost. So we went out there tonight (against Huntsville) and put up some pressure and put in the first one and rest seemed to go in.”
Hockey players seem to have an instinct as to when a player is having an exceptional game and it was no different Sunday after Cafagna scored the opener.
“A couple of the guys were trying to feed me the puck because they said I had a hot stick today, so they were doing that,” Cafagna said.
It worked, and Cafagna took the feed and probably set a team record with his four goals.
Wearing the No. 66, this is his second season with the Golden Hawks.
