May 1 has been proclaimed as First Responders Day in Caledon.
Town council Tuesday voted to have Mayor Marolyn Morrison sign the proclamation, in recognition that Caledon is regarded as one of the safest communities in North America due to the combined efforts of police, paramedics and firefighters.
“First responders keep out communities safe, our lives secure, our homes protected and improve the quality of live for all the people in our community,” the motion passed by council stated.
It also noted that Newmarket-Aurora MPP Frank Klees recently was successful in putting forth a private members bill to have May 1 of every year designated as First Responders Day in Ontario, and the bill received support from all parties.
