Festivities take place throughout Caledon to celebrate Canada’s 147th birthday

Tuesday was Canada Day, and the Caledon community got out to celebrate the occasion. The weather was bothersome in the morning, but things soon cleared up, allowing for glorious conditions to celebrate. The Caledon Agricultural Society held its annual Canada Day Strawberry Festival at the Fairgrounds in Caledon village, and lots of people came from far and wide for the fun, and the strawberries too. Pancakes with strawberries is always a popular attraction Canada Day. Melina and Joseph Griffo of Bolton were being served by Angie Saylors and Sally Reay of the Agricultural Society. There were lots of fun activities at the annual Canada Day Strawberry Festival, hosted by the Caledon Agricultural Society at the Fairgrounds in Caledon village. The Strawberry Eating contest provided a messy time for lots of youngsters. Nikolas McConkey of Brampton was in the heat of competition, but his brother Alexander, 3, hadn’t quite grasped that he wasn’t supposed to use his hands.

Canadian Tire was one of the sponsors of the annual Canada Day celebrations at Albion Hills Conservation Area, and they were running a Fun Zone on the grounds. One of the attractions there was this Money Machine, and Kayla Blanda, 9, of Brampton was trying to catch all the Canadian Tire coupons she could as they blew all around her.

The interesting attractions at Albion Hills Conservation Area included the chance to meet some animals from Tiger Paw Exotics in Arthur. Owen Lewis, 8, of Bolton got to meet this corn snake named Suzie.
