Peel council recently agreed to go along with the encroachment of a Belfountain property onto Regional road.
Council accepted the staff recommendation that the encroachment of a fence, concrete front entrance pad and front portion of the two-storey frame house on the Old Main Street property be permitted.
Regional staff reported there had been such an agreement in place with the previous owner of the property since June 2010. That agreement was slated to last for 20 years. But the property was recently sold and the new owner wanted the agreement continued. It’s due to expire Dec. 31, 2033.
The report added the property owner is to be responsible for all maintenance costs involved.
Regional councillors approved the staff recommendation without comment.
