A local farm was a top spot for Canada Day celebrations this year.

On July 1, Downey’s Farm hosted its Canada Day Strawberry Festival and it was very well attended.

The farm opened at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast ready for all those who got up early, complete with farm-fresh strawberries from Downey’s Farm.

Opening ceremonies were held at 10 a.m. and a day packed with fun for kids and their families followed.

Entertainment for the day included live music, magic shows, and dog shows. The farm’s play area was open for business and children could be seen making the most of the pedal tractors, jumping pillows, playground and more all day long.

Darlene Downey, Farm Manager at Downey’s Farm, was busy helping run the day’s festivities and was unavailable for an interview July 1. After the event on social media, Downey’s Farm sent out a thank you to all who attended.

“Thank you to all our Farm Friends that joined us for our Canada Day Strawberry Festival,” reads the post. “It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces enjoying the strawberry pancake breakfast.”

A portion of all Canada Day Strawberry Festival sales at Downey’s Farm were donated to Caledon Community Services.
